28 year old Horacio "Lacho" Ruiz is the owner and head chef at Casa Emilia. He was born in Puerto Vallarta but his grandmother Emilia raised him in the small coastal town of San Francisco. He registered at the culinary Universidad Alica in Puerto Vallarta. After four years of hard work, studying and apprenticing, Horacio graduated as a chef. He spent last year working at St. Regis, a luxury hotel in Punta de Mita. In the fall of 2011 he opened Emelia's Bakery/Cafe. Dishes include Omelette de flor de calabaza (zucchini flowers) and huitlacoche (corn truffle), with salsa verde and Chihuahua cheese. Chilaquiles and the blueberry pancakes fluffy, and topped with a dollop of whip cream and raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. Hire for in Casa Chef services.
